Signs 23 – A Turn for the Worse

| April 11, 2018

Planet X SignsIn March 2018, we published Signs 22 – The Beginning of a Plateau?  Due to the slight partial decline in the datasets, we raised a hopeful question. Do we see the beginning of a plateau?

When we analyzed the data for March 2018, our tentative hopes were dashed by what is apparently a turn for the worse. As disappointing as this is, so are all the other trends such as weather, receding oceans and land tears as well.

Not just the events themselves but the disingenuous manner in which modern science is trivializing these disturbing trends with nonsense explanations only a politician could love.

We’ll address failing of science later on, but for now, let’s see how fireball and earthquake trends for March 2018 stack up.

March 2018 Fireballs

Fireballs are reported worldwide, and the American Meteor Society which is the primary source for North America, for this dataset.

AMS Multistate / Country Fireballs

Multistate/country fireballs, cross the borders of multiple states and countries. For this reason, this is a critical category in the dataset because of the distance these fireballs must travel to be reported across large geographic areas.

AMS Multistate Fireballs as of 3/2018

Given that March 2018 is slightly lower than March 2016 but still higher than March 2015 and 2017, there is no significant change in this dataset category.

AMS Huge Event Fireballs

It is a commonplace occurrence for Multistate / Country Fireballs to be reported as huge events because a huge event occurs when fireball reports are received from 100 or more eyewitness observers.

AMS Huge Event Fireballs as of 3/2018

The only significant decline for this dataset category was for March 2018. However, we’re only talking about one event for that month as opposed to the two events for March dating back to 2015.

AMS Monthly Total Fireballs

The monthly total fireballs are the most critical category in this dataset. When we look at the monthly total of fireballs for this five-year study dating back to 2015, we see that March 2018 now represents an all-time high for this month.

AMS Monthly Fireball Totals as of 3/2018

What is interesting is that both January and March of 2018 beat the previous records for each month respectively. Therefore, when we examine the first quarter of this year, we do see a marked increase in this dataset category, which virtually eliminates our previous hope for a possible plateau.

AMS Total Yearly Fireballs

The dataset for total yearly fireballs has changed from 2009 through 2017 as shown in Signs 21, to 2011 to 2018. As reported in Signs 20 is shown again below.

AMS Year Fireball Totals as of 3/2018

As of March 2018, the total yearly fireballs for 2018 has broken the 1,000 event threshold. Therefore, the overall trend is continuing but escalating, and we will likely see 2018 break the total for the entire year of 2011.

Earthquakes Since 1997

At the outset of our Signs series, J. P. Jones created a dataset spreadsheet that tracks the total number of earthquakes each month beginning with 1997. The updated spreadsheet below has been updated with the March 2018 results.

Earthquakes Worldwide 1/97 to 2/18With earthquakes for March 2018, we see a pattern that has now become consistent with the total fireballs for March 2018 with total earthquakes of all magnitudes at 9,633. The highest figure for March for the years 1997 through 2018. Furthermore, the first quarter total for the first quarter of this year is 27,871 earthquakes of all magnitudes. More than all those recorded for the entire year of 2002!

Global Earthquakes of all Magnitudes 1/2015 to 3/2018

When we look at annual global earthquakes for all magnitudes for the period January 2015 to March 2018, the overall trend indicates that we’re entering a period of slow overall increase in growth.

Earthquakes 1/2015 to 3/2018

The fireball and earthquake datasets for March demonstrate that we’re continuing to push into dangerous territory. With so many worrisome trends and catastrophic events worldwide, we ask, where is modern science? From what we’re seeing, that answer they are smoking cigarettes in the bathroom before the class bell rings. However, you may see it differently so let’s take a closer look at two disturbing trends: receding oceans and land tears.

Receding Oceans

In September of last year, the ocean receded from the Brazilian shoreline in a way locals had not seen before. In a Watchers News article, an explanation is given by someone identified as the owner of a website.  No mention is made of his scientific credentials – how convenient., 23-Sep-2017
Another significant ocean receding event in Brazil, here’s what’s causing it

Yet another ocean receding event occurred on the coast of Brazil on Thursday, September 21, 2017, causing panic among people, not just in Brazil.

The latest event happened in Guaratuba, a city in the state of Paraná, considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches of Paraná.

For the past month and a half, numerous theories have been made about what’s causing the so-called ‘mysterious and apocalyptic’ ocean receding events along the Atlantic coast of Brazil, Uruguay (and Argentina) since August 2017 and quite frankly, it’s getting out of proportion.

So what’s really causing the waters to recede there? To answer the question, we talked with Daniel Panobianco, the owner of De Olho No Tempo Meteorologia website, from Brazil.

“The phenomenon causing these events is completely natural, and is called a Dry Tide,” Daniel said.

“It occurs when the wind blows with northeasterly force and ‘pulls’ the energy from the waves of the Brazilian coast. In addition, a persistent anticyclone in Brazil called the South Atlantic Subtropical High (ASAS) maintains the high pressure,” he said.

“The moon phase also influences it,” he added. “The phenomenon is natural, it has always occurred but it is more intense this year due to persistent ASAS.”

So we have a completely normal “dry tide” and a bit of moonshine shenanigans thrown in for good measure.  Yet, just five months later we get a completely different explanation.

The Bottom of the Ocean Is Sinking

The bottom of the ocean is more of a “sunken place” than it used to be.

In recent decades, melting ice sheets and glaciers driven by climate change are swelling Earth’s oceans. And along with all that water comes an unexpected consequence — the weight of the additional liquid is pressing down on the seafloor, causing it to sink.

Consequently, measurements and predictions of sea-level rise may have been incorrect since 1993, underestimating the growing volume of water in the oceans due to the receding bottom, according to a new study.

In the new investigation, researchers looked at more long-term impacts to the seafloor. They evaluated how much the shape of the ocean bottom may have changed between 1993 and 2014, taking into account the amount of water added to the ocean from liquid formerly locked up on land as ice. Previous research into seafloor stretching had omitted that extra water, the scientists wrote in the study.

To do that, they reviewed approximations of mass loss on land, as ice melted and drained into the oceans, and compared that to estimates of sea volume changes. They found that around the world for two decades, ocean basins deformed an average of 0.004 inches (0.1 millimeter) per year, with a total deformation of 0.08 inches (2 mm).

However, there were distinct regional patterns to the seafloor’s bending and stretching, and the amount of sag in certain parts of the ocean bottom could be significantly higher — as much as 0.04 inches (1 mm) per year in the Arctic Ocean, for a total of 0.8 inches (20 mm), the study authors reported.

Rather than pumping moonshine explanations, this article tells that our ocean basins are deforming and that science may be working with unreliable historical data as far back as 1993. Hats off to Live Science for a rational explanation that defines moonshine explanations.

Is this a one-trick pony situation or is there a bigger trend at play here? To answer that question, let’s talk earth tears.

Earth Tears

For the last few years, we’ve seen numerous earth tears occurring around the globe.  However, the earth tear that recently happened in Kenya’s Rift Valley is deeply troubling as this portends a significant observable increase in crustal undulation as we call it.

Face to Face Africa, March 22, 2018
Africa is splitting into two after tear in Kenya’s Rift Valley

After heavy rains and seismic activities on Monday, the earth has split open at Kenya’s Rift Valley leaving a huge tear that is more than 50 feet deep and more than 50 feet wide weaving through the arable land in Narok County.

Geologists say in about 50 million years, the African continent will split into two with the Somali tectonic plate which covers the Great Rift Valley – running from the Horn of Africa to Mozambique – separating itself from the Nubian Plate (African Plate).

“The Great Rift splits Africa into two plates. With what is happening we have established one plate which is the Somali plate is moving away from the other plate at a rate of 2.5cm. In the near future if this happens we shall have the Somali plate separating from the other Nubian plate,” Kenyan geologist David Ahede tells local media Daily Nation.

He said that earth movements have resulted in weaknesses and the weak zones form fault lines and fissures which are normally filled by volcanic ash, most likely from the nearby Mount Longonot.

He believes the origin of the movements is a shield volcano called Suswa that lies at the base of the Great Rift Valley with a history of tectonic and volcanic activity.

There is an old saying, “old tricks are the best tricks,” and this geologist used a hackneyed, textbook explanation for the tear in Kenya.  Probably with the intention of going soft for the benefit of local tourism.  On the other hand, another scientiest in London offered a more understandable explanation nine days later. (FYI, a boffin is a  person engaged in scientific or technical research.)

Huge crack stretching several miles sparks fears Africa is splitting in TWO

The growing tear in the continent has caused part of the Nairobi-Narok highway to collapse.

Now tectonic boffins are claiming Africa could split in several million years.

Dr Lucia Perez Diaz, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Fault Dynamics Research Group, London’s Royal Holloway, explained how this continental rupture could occur.

Writing for The Conversation she said: “The East African Rift Valley stretches over 3,000km from the Gulf of Aden in the north towards Zimbabwe in the south, splitting the African plate into two unequal parts: the Somali and Nubian plates.

“Activity along the eastern branch of the rift valley, running along Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania, became evident when the large crack suddenly appeared in south-western Kenya.”

The process is known as “continental rifting” and requires huge forces to be exerted on the Earth.

Underneath the crust a “magma plume” forms forcing the crust up and eventually splitting it.

Dr Diaz added: “Eventually, over a period of tens of millions of years, seafloor spreading will progress along the entire length of the rift.

“The ocean will flood in and, as a result, the African continent will become smaller and there will be a large island in the Indian Ocean composed of parts of Ethiopia and Somalia, including the Horn of Africa.”

The active rift zone is currently spreading at a few millimetres per year.

This means that in around 10 million years, a new ocean will emerge as the rip continues to tear East Africa apart.

The bottom line according to this article is that it will take another 10 million years for this process to launch the Horn of Africa towards India. 10 million years? Really? Pardon my asking, but then what in hades are we seeing now? A single tick-tock of a 10 million year clock?

In any case, scientists are quite adept at avoiding the need to explain why a specific event happens with or without the moonshine. Or, they dig into their pockets for a pack of smokes and a hackneyed textbook explanation. Or, they come up with something that sounds impressive with a simple message. “Nothing to see here folks. It won’t happen in your lifetime. Move on.”

How long with this misleading two-step of science be with us? Right to the bitter end because the truth is most folks are not going to care that we’re being lied to until we’re standing on the precipice of our demise. Then we’ll have something more important to consider than scientists sucking up to special interests.
