Super bright star in Cassiopeia
« on: May 24, 2011, 10:02:29 AM »
Last friday night i was sitting on my back deck watching the stars with my telescope and suddenly i saw one of the stars in Cassiopeia get SUPER bright,  like Jupiter bright. and then it faded back to its normal brightness. i had been looking the other direction when it happened but when i saw it it lasted for another 10 or 15 seconds. anyone ever seen anything like this? know what it was?

Cassiopeia is just to the right of Polaris and about 15 degrees below.

This is the exact description of what i saw! wonder if it was the same or a new one. does this mean anything of any significance?
