We had speculations about this very thing, a few months ago, here on Townhall.   ed

Yeah, your right! I found the discussion back in December. Sorry about the oversight. It is interesting that the rate of radioactive decay is no longer constant according to this article. Just when it seems our scientists know SO MUCH we find out there is more to learn.

Two observations I've made during the past few months regarding the sun is its intense heat & brightness during late afternoon. On Mother's Day my wife & I took a very long drive into the Rocky Mountains approximately 100+ miles west of Denver. During the drive my wife mentioned the heat from the sun felt like it was burning through her pants, which is what I'd been experiencing for over an hour before she made that statement! The heat from the direct sunlight was almost intolerable.

During cloudless afternoons on most days the sun has appeared to be much brighter than I can recall in the past. I began questioning myself if this is my imagination until the road trip last Sunday. Has anyone else had any similar observations or experiences?

I got sunburned on my right arm while driving around with my husband a couple of weeks ago.  I was in a car with elbow length sleeves on.  The burn was on my shoulder and above my elbow.  ???

Same here also, I always wear long sleeves now to keep from being burned as well as a hat.

Whenever I'm in the passenger seat (for the past twenty or so years my husband usually drives) I've learned not to wear black or dark colored pants if there's bright sun.  Black absorbs the heat and can burn me right through the fabric. I usually unfold a road map to cover my legs and lap, or take along a white towel.  The driver doesn't have the problem since the dashboard and steering wheel protect him.

However, yes, the few days of sun we've had so far this year, the sun seemed to be extraordinarily bright.
