Magnetosphere Takes a Hit
The magnetosphere simulator showed evidence of a brief, high density proton blast at around 22:00 UTC that appeared to disable the ACE satellite data feed briefly. Note the high pressure and proton density spike.

Just hang onto your hats. Sunspot 1112 is coming back around the sun. It's what caused the spike, and it's not totally on this side yet.  ed

I don't understand any of the charts.  It looks normal to me.  Where does it show the hit at?

Looks like we had a couple of M class flares about an hour or two ago. This being from spot 1112. It's not even facing the earth yet. This spot seems capable of peaking an X class flare at us, and frying all of the satellites. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.  ed

Road Warrior, you must be an October 28th, 2011 type of guy? Cliff said, by the way, that in about a day or two, things are going to get busy, according to the web bot.  ed
