Nostradamus — King of Terror C10:Q72:L4Before and after Mars to reign by good luck. PAGE SUMMARY: Each line of this quatrain has been scrutinized at great length, and this particular line, "Before and after Mars to reign by good luck," could mean one of two things: "Mars" is the planet itself, or "Mars" is the God of War. Either way, both reigned before and after the June 5, 2000 flyby of Mars by Comet 76P/West-Kohoutek-Ikemura during a major planetary conjunction. As the god of war, Mars has enjoyed nonstop combat so this interpretation was easy to accept. This could also be said for another key event, the Mars Global Super Storm on June 27 2001, which was the most violent storm ever witnessed on Mars and which many felt was caused by an impact event. However, following the Mars Global Super Storm, amateur astronomer, Glen Deen, made several observation attempts of the moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos, with a 24" telescope. The moons have vanished, which indicates that while Mars would reign by good luck before and after the 1999 eclipse seen over Turkey. However that luck may have run out after the June 5, 2000 flyby of Mars by Comet 76P/West-Kohoutek-Ikemura. Planetary Codes I would like to present the reader with a code by which to decipher Nostradamus' choice of planetary names and their meanings. Many times, particularly, in the Twentieth Century these are parts of an Astrological dating system and this makes sense. Given the changes in the standard Gregorian Calendar over the Jovian Calendar, this would provide a foolproof method of dating that would last the centuries. The majority of the time, however, the names merely apply to a particular country or complex situation such as war or having to give up the spoils of war as examples of the latter. As with all languages, words and phrases take on new meanings as time passes an interpretations can and will vary. For the sake of consistency, the English translations were taken from a Russian web site. This is because the Russians share a closer cultural history with the French, and a deep respect for the language. There was a long period of time in Russia, when the nobility preferred the French language over their own.
