Did Nostradamus Predict The Chad Factor?

YOWUSA.COM, 18-November-00
James van der Worp

It seems these days that the American electoral process more closely resembles a Jurassic Park food chain feeding frenzy, as nimble-footed, saw-toothed lawyers ply Florida's legal waters in search of ponderous and dissenting judges. Consequently, the average American is so far removed from the process that regardless of who wins the Presidency, he will most likely be a one-term President and will likely inherit a divided and embittered congress. Worse yet, the candidate who looses now may be the sore loser that Nostradamus seems to warn us about.

A Time of Great Uncertainty

For the first time in American history, the process of becoming the President of the most powerful and technologically advanced country in the world has been reduced to the subjective analysis of dimpled, pregnant, hanging, swinging and indented chads of paper. As the fate of the free world hangs in the balance, we turn to equally reliable prognosticators such as Nostradamus for a possible look at how things will play out, and you might be surprised as to what we've found.

During times of uncertaintainty or concern, the prophecies of Nostradamus always seem to float to the surface, and over the last few years there have been vivid and sometimes even fierce discussions by netizens about the of the writings of Michel de Notredame (1503-1568).

Nostradamus is a prophet to some, and a hoax to others, but his prophecies which are recorded n the form of ten Centuries continue to endure.

Failed Prophecies and Failed Interpretations

Each Century contains approximately one hundred verses or quatrains and each of these verses is enigmatic and so it is easy for us to misinterpret them.

But, do they really foretell our own future? Who knows, but there are some quatrains that are drawing a lot of attention recently beginning with Century 10, Quatrain 72 (X/72).

Centurie X Q 72

L'an mil neuf cens nonante neuf sept mois,
Du ciel viendra vn grand Roy d'effrayeur:
Resusciter le grand Roy d'Angolmois,
Auant apres Mars regner par bon-heur.

The year 1999, seventh month,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror:
To bring back to life the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars to reign by good luck.

Until recently, the prevaling opinion of X/72 is that it was pointing towards a real, physical event, coming from outer space and threatening our planet. The reason for this could be found in a few other quatrains, most important of which is III/34:

Centurie III Q 34

Quand le deffaut du Soleil lors sera
Sur le plein iour le monstre sera veu:
Tout autrement on l'interpretera,
Cherté n'a garde nul n'y aura pourueu.

When the eclipse of the Sun will then be,
The monster will be seen in full day:
Quite otherwise will one interpret it,
High price unguarded: none will have foreseen it.

This quatrain describes more bluntly a ‘monster' which will be seen at a full Eclipse. That is why many people were searching the skies on August 11, 1999, the last full Solar Eclipse which passed over Northern France, but to no avail, really. A few anomalies aside, no ‘monster' was seen. So slowly the story bled to death, feeding of course the opponents, the nonbelievers, the skeptics.

Did Nostradaums See An Electoral Crisis Instead of a Comet?

Few will have missed the drama still going on around the elections for the 43rd president of the U.S. The litigation might take several months still, it may even take up to a year before all the dust stirred by this will settle again. What consequences may result from all this?

While America is openly professing tolerance those of us who can face the reality of the situation can see that its social mettle is quietly hardening into two irreconcilable points of view.

Consequently, it is clear that the current situation weakens the grip the US has on the international political stage. Whoever engages in a legal battle over the Presidency ‘at home' cannot focus their full and undivided attention on what happens abroad. Furthermore, this is happening at a time when such attention is so badly needed.

X/72 and The Election Crisis

Why drag the elections in? Well, the answer is simple, really. The whole drama going on could well be the explanation of this quatrain. With this in mind, lets review this "failed" prophecy line-by-line in the context of the possible catastrophes lying ahead of us as a result of the election crisis.

With this in mind, let's look at the quatrain as it was interpreted by the comet watchers, and again in the context of the elections.

Centurie X Q 72

L'an mil neuf cens nonante neuf sept mois,
Du ciel viendra vn grand Roy d'effrayeur:
Resusciter le grand Roy d'Angolmois,
Auant apres Mars regner par bon-heur.

Failed prophecy translation used by the Comet watchers:

The year 1999, seventh month,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror:
To bring back to life the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars to reign by good luck.

New translation as it relates to the Presidential elections:

The year 1999 seven months,
From the sky will come a great King of Appeasement:
To bring back to life the great King Angolmois,
Before and after Mars to reign by good luck.

Now the explanation of this new translation:

Centurie X Q 72

Interpretation

L'an mil neuf cens nonante neuf sept mois,

The year 1999 seven months,

Mid June 2000, Super Tuesday saw the nomination of the two final contestants for the Republicans and the Democrats, the two most likely to battle for the White House. The race itself took a start at the beginning of the seventh month, July.

Du ciel viendra vn grand Roy d'effrayeur:

The great King of Appeasement:

The French verb “effrayer” means “to keep (someone) free”. eg. You take a friend to a bar on a night out and you see to it that he doesn’t pay a dime, you provide his every need. With a little bad will this could be interpreted negatively and reflect upon the President-to-be as someone who is a master in buying someone’s loyalty and that he is to be a master at making people his friend by giving gifts to them.

Resusciter le grand Roy d'Angolmois,

To bring back to life the great King Angolmois,

The King of Angolmois has been bitterly disputed, but most likely is pointing towards old Genghis Khan, this time referring to ‘the great power in the East’. Reawakening him would mean that the power in the world, the centre of it, would shift towards China/Russia. The US will cease to be the world’s only remaining superpower.

Auant apres Mars regner par bon-heur

Before and after Mars to reign by good luck.

The final line does not need explaining: War is lingering already and will rage on, worse than it has before. We may well see the seeds of a long-term and global conflict right now.

But this may not have been the only quatrain where Nostradamus warns us about the potential consequences of our current events.

An Even More Alarming Quatrain

An interesting corollary to this interpretation of X/72 is Centurie IX Q 4 (IX/4).  IX/4 has been regarded by some Nostradamus analysts as a failed prophecy dealing with the downfall of Mussolini towards the close of WW II.  Consequently, it has languished in comparison to other quatrains but now it seems that it fits the current state of the American Presidential elections with an uncanny accuracy.

Centurie IX Q 4

Interpretation

L'an ensuyuant découuerts par deluge,

The following year discoveries through flood,

The first line talks on a year ‘discover’ by flood. Découvert in itself may mean “exposed to” as well ! So a year haunted by floods all over. This year more floods have been recorded worldwide than the last decades, especially in Europe.  As a result of the flooding, the

Deux chefs esleuz, le premier ne tiendra

Two chiefs elected, the first one will not hold:

Two elected chiefs: Two candidates still claim the victory while the legal battle continues.

De fuyr ombre à l'vn d'eux le refuge,

The refuge for the one of them fleeing a shadow,

One of them must lose and will seek refuge in a lower profile than politics.  The shadow could also refer to a disreputable act commited by the looser that will haunt his public persona.

Saccagee case qui premier maintiendra.

The house of which will maintain the first one plundered.

The loser will conduct a bitter war of legal attacks and political smears upon the winner, thereby damaging or imparing the winner’s ability lead the country.

When X/72 and IX/4 are taken together, a clear picture forms of our current political crisis and the long term implications in portends. Are these interpretations valid? Who really knows, but what do know is that usually come to understand the writing of Nostradamus after-the-fact and not before.

For example, we understood the accuracy of Nostradamus when he warned us of Napoleon, Hitler and the Challenger Space Shuttle Disaster, but only in retrospect.

Yet, the uncanny accuracy of X/72 and IX/4 in the context of the current electoral crisis in America is foreboding at the least.

The Danger Comes From the East and Within

Preoccupied with a new legal conundrum, the average American has seemingly lost interest in that fact that the US must be ever vigilent to the delicate balance of power in the world.  f not, dormant or rising powers in the East may start to beat the drums of international politics again. Given that Europe is too divided and self-focused to fill the vacuum the US is gradually leaving the danger of a power struggle between China and America is becoming ominous.

Already, rumors of Chinese soldiers playing around in Sudan in massive numbers are persisting as China openly proclaims America to be its greatest enemy. In the Middle East, the threat of a regional war escalates as the bodies continue to pile up, while Syria readies itself to mingle into the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.

The world is getting increasingly disquieted, and Nostradamus may be warning us that we will see another massive and bloody war that will be worse than WWI and WWII combined because the American people are loosing their political will and strength as a result of the debilitating legal wrangling that will be perpetrated by the loose of the Presidential election long after the "legal" vote is decided in Florida.

Will humanity recognize the signs and take the necessary steps to avoid another global war as Nostradamus tells us we should do?  If so, the prophecies of Nostradamus will fail.  If not, his nightmarish visions may soon dominate our nightly news broadcasts.

Whoever loses the election must be chastised and silenced by the American people so that American can face the looming threats to world peace now brewing in China and the Middle East.
